Asahiya Parlor
旭屋パーラー
Located near Setagaya's Shoin Shrine, Asahiya Parlor serves morning sets from 7:30, rich blended coffee, fragrant caramel parfaits, and seasonal fruit desserts in a serene kissaten space.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Along the street looking toward the torii gate of Shoin Shrine, Asahiya Parlor opens its doors at 7:30 to the quiet scent of freshly ground beans and toasted bread. Mornings begin with set breakfast offerings served alongside clean pour-over drip coffee or a full-bodied dark blend carrying deep bitterness. Thick-sliced toast can be paired with boiled eggs or sweet ogura bean paste, while lighter choices like fluffy egg sandwiches and hot-pressed sandwiches provide an appealing way to start the day.
True to the parlor name, the sweets are crafted with care. The caramel parfait balances gentle bitterness with rich aroma, layering smooth fresh cream and ice cream into a satisfying pause during a stroll. Seasonal parfaits spotlight juicy fruits like melon or grapes, and chalkboard specials range to fig cheesecakes with a subtle contrast of savoriness and natural sweetness. Accompanied by Darjeeling tea with the leaves removed after steeping or iced coffee brewed to your preferred strength, the desserts finish on a clean, lingering note.
Arranged across the 1nd and 2rd floors, the interior is fitted with retro woodwork and warm lighting, creating an unhurried atmosphere that welcomes solo visitors. By the 2rd-floor windows, guests can look out onto the shrine's greenery and shrine gate, taking in the neighborhood street life over a thoughtfully brewed cup.
